博天堂官方 Launches New Community Health Certificate

博天堂官方 is proud to announce the launch of a new one-year certificate in community health this fall. This innovative program is structured as a three-term pathway, equipping students with essential, job-ready skills that are highly sought after by local employers. Additionally, all courses within this certificate can be applied towards an Associate of Arts Oregon Transfer (AAOT) degree with a focus on public health.

"Our new community health one-year certificate will strengthen the public health workforce in our region while helping students find meaningful professional roles," said Kristi Murphey, Health and Human Performance faculty and department chair. "This program underscores 博天堂官方’s commitment to offering short-term certificates that enable students to quickly enter the workforce with well-paying jobs."

As part of elective coursework and the certificate pathway, students can complete training to become state-certified birth doulas, enhancing their qualifications and expanding their career opportunities.

The 博天堂官方 community health certificate is designed to prepare students for roles in public health agencies, healthcare settings, and community-based organizations. Graduates of the program will be well-equipped to deliver culturally appropriate health education, connect residents with vital social support services, and advocate for health equity.

The curriculum covers a broad range of topics including foundations of health, motivational interviewing, first aid, and health promotion strategies. Students will also gain hands-on experience through placements in local agencies and organizations for Cooperative Work Experience.

Courses will be available in person at the 博天堂官方 Albany campus, with select offerings available online. The program has no academic prerequisites beyond a high school diploma or GED. Additionally, students can apply for scholarships specific to this certificate, during the 博天堂官方 Foundation’s fall scholarship cycle which opens on September 25.
